Our story

A farm named for the colors of the earth

Chamarel’s volcanic soil, in reds, ochres, mauves and browns, inspired our approach from the very beginning. Mauritius’s mineral-rich volcanic earth nourishes an incredible variety of fruits and vegetables, and it inspires what we do here: building healthy, nutrient-rich soil that can do the same. We moved to our homestead in December 2025 and are just getting off the ground.

Healthy soil. Healthy food. Thriving community.

How we farm

Working with nature, not against it

Patient, attentive farming, built to keep the soil alive.

Soil health

Varied cover crops, organic mulching and crop rotation feed the soil and lock carbon into the ground.

Ecological balance

No synthetic pesticides, no shortcuts: organic methods that work with nature rather than against it.

Local food systems

Sold through our farm shop, veggie boxes and local markets, grown by young farmers paid a living wage and a share of the profits.
